We all love to work...ahem you say.
No, no really...we all LOVE to work....ahem, Chris are you ok?
I mean it my friends, We all LOOOOOVE to work. The problem is, that most of us are working in fields of jobs that we don't love. The act of work, of being productive, fruitful and succesful is thoroughly enjoyable, as long as what you are working on strikes a cord with your heart and soul.
You may have heard the saying : MondayItas. In my research, most people I speak to suffer this disorder. Here's how it typically goes. Think about how it relates to you...
Friday 5pm - WOOHOOO, Friday arvo. Break from work. Out with friends, maybe dinner plans, maybe a special night with your life partner.
Saturday - Yep, time to get things done today. Clean the house, work on that yard, visit Bunnungs, plan a dinner party for tonight
Sunday - Yep, awake. Work tomorrow, but before that (its okay, still 18 hours to go) head off for a brunch or maybe visit some friends
Sunday Night (about 8:30pn) - Dinner is finished, sitting on the couch, putting the kids to bed. Sunday night movie hits the screens. It sucks. Time flies, and all of a sudden it's 11pm. Hit the bed with a sinking, despairing feeling in the pit of your stomach. You REALLY don't want to work tomorrow. So many things to do...but if you dont' work, whose going to pay the bills.
Monday (630am) - Rise and shine, only, its not so much of a shne. Alarm bells scares the wits out of you, you get up irritated, the kids are screaming, lunch needs to be made and all this before 730. You have to be out of the house by 8 to be at work by 9. Rush..Rush...Rush...Rush. And gues what, the whole thing starts all over again until the weekend arrives
Now this may not be your life but perhaps there are aspects of which you can relate to.
So, what do you do to change this situation?
Hang on Chris, you call out, why would I WANT to change. I'm comfortable. I love my kids, I love my life.
Yes, you may be comfortable, but is that really what you want out of life? With all the wonder at our feet, with all the advances we have had, why do we need to settle for being comfortable? Why not leed an EXTRAORDINARY life, a life with such quality and abundance that your very spirit cries out every morning, that you are alive and feel such gratitude for every morning that your worries fade to insignificance? My friends, I truly believe that we were not put on this earth to simply exist, and today I want to share with you what I fervently believe is your purpose in life.
There are 2 questions that come up in all areas of your life, and you may have been asking these for a large part of your life.
Why am I here?
What is my purpose in life?
You can do a lot of reading and soul searching to answer this question. You can reseasrch, as I have done, the literature and wisdom of many succesful people, many people who lead simple lives and are happy to be where they are. To find what it is you are here for, you need to devote some time to working it out. I'll take you through a process I have created "The Searchlight Method" that helps you identify what it is you are here to do. Your life's purpose.
Firstly, lets set some ground rules to keep us on tarck.
1 - Don't listen to a thing I say.
Yes, that is right. Don't listen to a thing I say. In fact, I want you to make a commitment to you to not listen to what anybody says. An opinion, no matter who states it, is just an opinion, based on their realities, past, present, values and ego of that person. It has no relevance to you whatsover. So, should you really take what is said to you or what you read with the fervent belief that we sometimes apply, as your truth? No. Listen, read and then ask yourself one very simple, but incredibly powerful question.
