Global A-Team,

We all love to work...ahem you say.

No, no really...we all LOVE to work....ahem, Chris are you ok?

I mean it my friends, We all LOOOOOVE to work. The problem is, that most of us are working in fields or jobs that we don't love. The act of work, of being productive, fruitful and successful is thoroughly enjoyable, as long as what you are working on strikes a cord with your heart and soul.

You may have heard the saying : Mondayitis. In my research, most people I speak to suffer this disorder. Here's how it typically goes. Think about how it relates to you...

Friday 5pm - WOOHOOO, Friday arvo. Break from work. Out with friends, maybe dinner plans, maybe a special night with your life partner.
Saturday - Yep, time to get things done today. Clean the house, work on that yard, visit Bunning's, plan a dinner party for tonight Sunday - Yep, awake. Work tomorrow, but before that (its okay, still 18 hours to go) head off for a brunch or maybe visit some friends Sunday Night (about 8:30pm) - Dinner is finished, sitting on the couch, putting the kids to bed. Sunday night movie hits the screens. It sucks. Time flies, and all of a sudden it's 11pm. Hit the bed with a sinking, despairing feeling in the pit of your stomach. You REALLY don't want to work tomorrow.
So many things to do...but if you don't work, whose going to pay the bills.
Monday (630am) - Rise and shine, only, its not so much of a shine. Alarm bells scare the wits out of you, you get up irritated, the kids are screaming, lunch needs to be made and all this before 730. You have to be out of the house by 8 to be at work by 9. Rush..Rush...Rush...Rush. And guess what, the whole thing starts all over again until the weekend arrives

Now this may not be your life but perhaps there are aspects of which you can relate to.

So, what do you do to change this situation?

Hang on Chris, you call out, why would I WANT to change. I'm comfortable. I love my kids, I love my life.

Yes, you may be comfortable, but is that really what you want out of life?
With all the wonder at our feet, with all the advances we have had, why do we need to settle for being comfortable? Why not lead an EXTRAORDINARY life, a life with such quality and abundance that your very spirit cries out every morning, that you are alive and feel such gratitude for every morning that your worries fade to insignificance? My friends, I truly believe that we were not put on this earth to simply exist, and today I want to share with you what I fervently believe is your purpose in life.

There are 2 questions that come up in all areas of your life, and you may have been asking these for a large part of your life.

Why am I here?
What is my purpose in life?

You can do a lot of reading and soul searching to answer this question. You can research, as I have done, the literature and wisdom of many successful people, many people who lead simple lives and are happy to be where they are. To find what it is you are here for, you need to devote some time to working it out. I'll take you through a process I have created "The Searchlight Method" that helps you identify what it is you are here to do.
Your life's purpose.

Firstly, lets set some ground rules to keep us on track.

1 - Don't listen to a thing I say.
Yes, that is right. Don't listen to a thing I say. In fact, I want you to make a commitment to you to not listen to what anybody says. An opinion, no matter who states it, is just an opinion, based on their realities, past, present, values and ego of that person. It has no relevance to you whatsoever. So, should you really take what is said to you or what you read with the fervent belief that we sometimes apply, as your truth? No. Listen, read and then ask yourself one very simple, but incredibly powerful question.

How does this serve me?

If there is something that inspires you in what you read, take it and file it away in your mind, to be applied to your reality, your feelings, your past and present, your ego, until it becomes part of your opinion. Only then, will you truly believe, use and grow from what you learn. Now, if it doesn't serve you, if it doesn't inspire, motivate, challenge and educate you...discard it quickly and move on.

2. What you learn you must apply.
If you choose to take a part of these teachings as important, if something educates or inspires you, then act upon it. The greatest damage that can be done to you is seen through you, and usually by a single word that carries so many excuses and limitations that we hide behind it.

Procrastination.

What if Einstein never started the Theory of Relativity?
What if Edison gave up on electricity after his one-hundredth attempt to make the light bulb?
What if Mother Teresa said that "It's okay, I'll do it tomorrow?"
What if the late Dr Hollow said "I'll operate tomorrow?"

How many lives have been effected by action today? How many lives would be lost but for action today.

Are you not worthy of taking action today that will benefit your life?

What you learn, act upon.

Okay, let's together discover your purpose in life.

As a preface let me say that I believe (and this is my opinion) that our ultimate purpose in life is to be happy. However, happiness can come from many different directions and you need to discover what yours is. To help you, I have created the 'Searchlight Method".

Get comfortable, this is about to change your life. Preferably you should be in a comfortable place, relatively quiet and alone. Have a piece of paper and pen handy.

Step 1.
Sit or lie down, eyes closed hands to your side. Take a deep breath through your nose, letting the air escape evenly from your mouth. Take a second breath, slow and even. Don't try to control your thoughts. If you'd like to have some soft music in the background to help you relax, do so. Do this until you are calm and centred. Your even breathing will slow your heart and bring balance to your mind.

Step 2.
Pick up the pen and answer this question?

What am I happy with in my life?

Don't slow to be accurate or grammatically correct. The words, how they look, what they say or even what language they are in don't matter. In fact, you can draw images if that is better for you. I want you to focus on gratitude here. What are you happy about. Start with you (your health, your arms, legs, breathing, mind, head, the emotions you feel, the job you have), then move onto your family. Say thank you to your creator for those who are closest to your heart. Thank your creator for the blessing of their life and for the joys that come from it) then move onto friends and do the same.
Finally, feel grateful for everything around you, for the air, the trees and birds, whatever works for you.

We are attempting to create a feeling of calmness and peace, flowing with the energy of gratitude and love.

Step 3.
Ask yourself this question.

What should I be doing in my life?

Now you make get fragmented answers. Things like : helping others, being on a holiday, providing for my family. These are good, This is what you want to happen. No matter what, keep your breathing centred and even. Concentrate on the abundance of gratitude you have just thanked your creator for, and ask your heart and soul, "What should I be doing in life?"

Be open to receiving the answer, and no matter what, take the good feelings that come with it as a testament that this is your purpose in life.

Step 4.
Write it down

When you feel the right thing for you write it down. The important word here is FEEL. Don' try to intellectualise it. Don't catch yourself thinking and saying 'How am I going to do that?" Just feel and write.

The "Searchlight Method" should be done several times. The reason I advise that you do this is that we have programmed our minds with such lack thinking that we often forget what we truly want to do. To find it again, we must be grateful for what we have now, and ask our soul, when we are feeling this gratitude, to guide our way.

Yours in health and abundance,

Chris Lianos
