Evangelist and Prosperity...what the?

 

Hello again friends. This week I want to talk about Prosperity and a TV Evangelist that I caught the last 15 minutes of. Well. you might be thinking what this has to do with prosperity.

 

Prosperity is having an abundance of all good things on this earth. From friends, family, relationships, work, business and yes, even money. Lots of it. Until last year I lived with the thought that too much money is a bad thing. After all, we are taught that money is evil, that we should not worship money. Well, here's my spin on that. Money is not evil. Money can do so much good on this earth. People can make money bad. Greed makes people bad, and by greed I don't mean wanting more and more. I mean wanting more and more at the expense of others. We are programmed to believe that God does not want you to be wealthy, but would rather you lead a humble life, with little in terms of physical possessions. Well....why would God want that of us? Why put us on earth and proclaim it a sin to have material things? It doesn't make sense. True wealth, where money and material things are celebrated rather than worshipped can bring so much happiness to people's lives. Imagine the good you could do with an extra $50,000 a week.

 

Okay..did I get anyone? Did anyone just re-read that number?

 

I know my brother did. I tried this with him last week. It's a test to see where your comfort zone ends. Give it a go..

 

Question - Would you like an extra $1000/week?

 

yes....good.

 

Question - Would you like an extra $5000/week?

 

yes...good.

 

Question - Would you like and extra $50,000/week?

 

still with me? If you have balked at any of these numbers, then you most certainly will balk at..

 

$1 million per week.

 

If not, then you have not reached your comfort zone. Keep going until your body says "Hey...that's ridiculous and I don't want to be greedy."

 

So, what does this all tell us and what has it got to do with a TV Evangelist?

 

We each have limits that seem out of reach. Maybe that is because the amount is too much or maybe its because of what we attribute subconsciously to having that much money. My brother recently told me that he has a belief that to be rich means you are greedy and have stepped all over people to get to the top. Well...if that is his belief, what do you think will happen when he starts making money? His subconscious will sabotage him because to be wealthy means he will have to be greedy and step on people. It will never happen.

We all have beliefs that govern and drive our actions each and every day. What are yours? What do you truly believe about money and being wealthy?

 

Prosperity works on the principle that anything you want in life can be yours if you so choose it. This means that you can have the $50,000/week, the extra car, the boat, the house, the jet, the island. In fact, when you study prosperity principles you will learn that the only reason you don't have them yet is because you have chosen not to have them. Its unlikely to be a conscious thought. Now, before you think I have lost it, think about it. If you hold any 'bad' thoughts about money and what having it means, then maybe this is why you are not as prosperous as you would like to be. Interesting concept.

 

Prosperity teaches us that God is in everything. He is everywhere. Everything works to a plan, but that plan is yours to fashion. God is God the good. He wants you to have the kingdom. Everything you can imagine. So, logically speaking, if you start a thought, that leads to an action, this will lead to a result.

 

Several days ago I was up late helping my girlfriend pack for her trip to London and I happened to flick the channel onto a TV Evangelist. He had a speaker with him who captured my attention. This pastor was preying into the screen, preying with the millions that follow his program and the prayer was about sowing and reaping. He said, and I paraphrase here ..."Whatever you sow, so you shall reap. You are the seed that God has given everything to, and all you must do is open up and accept God's blessings."

 

Friends, these are magical words..."all you must do is open up and accept God's blessings".

 

God wants you to be prosperous, to be wealthy, and happy. It is you who holds you back.
